Our evening soundwalk with Eric Leonardson will provide an introduction to some of the sounds of the several species, as well as their presence within the overall West Ridge soundscape. Learn about the West Ridge frog monitoring and Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum’s Calling Frog Survey. Decode the signals and undertones of plants, animals, and urban life. Become a citizen scientist. MSAE_WATER_-01Come out for a day of celebration in one of Chicago’s beautiful natural spaces! Learn to identify local birds and plants, listen to the sounds of nature, and soak in musical and theatrical performances. While enjoying the festivities, you will also learn more about opportunities to study and protect Chicago’s natural treasures.

At 6:30 I will lead a soundwalk and then participate in a panel discussion, from 7:30 to 8:30, on ecoacoustics and acoustic ecology.

I will also provide news and information about my soundscape project for The 606 Open AIR and the 2016 Soundwalks In the Parks program with Amanda Gutierrez and Norman W. Long, supported by the Chicago Park District.
