November’s Midwest Society for Acoustic Ecology / World Listening Project meeting features a special presentation by Chicago artist and filmmaker Deborah Stratman.

Deborah will talk about the role of sound in her work. Her recent installation, Tactical Uses of a Belief in the Unseen “…draws upon the ecological effects of vibration and the history of sonic warfare.” Deborah teaches at the University of Illinois Chicago. She has exhibited at the Whitney Biennial, MoMA, the Pompidou, Hammer Museum and many international film festivals. She also is the recipient of Fulbright and Guggenheim fellowships.
