On Thursday, June 4 I lead a field recording workshop for the Klingt Gut! / Sounds Good! Symposium on Sound, presented by Hamburg University of Applied Sciences and the Audio Engineering Society Hamburg Student Section at the Arts and Media Campus Hamburg, Germany.
On Friday, June 5 I give a lecture on “Soundscape Awareness” at 3:00pm in “Lecture 3: Understanding Sound” with lectures until 6:00pm by Helmut Wittek: On the Sound of Microphones, and Lars Ohlendorf: Funktionale Klänge. Please check the program for complete schedule and changes.
The Klingt Gut! / Sounds Good! symposium runs from June 4-6. Among its highlights is the premiere of a reconstructed version of Oskar Fischinger’s 1926 film, Raumlichtkunst. It was shown multi-projection shows at the time, and is considered “…some of the earliest attempts at cinematic immersive environments.” This version was made by the Center for Visual Music using Varèse’s Ionisation and two versions of Double Music by John Cage and Lou Harrison for the musical accompaniment.
While enrollment for my field recording workshop is full, many more workshops, lectures, performances, and exhibits cover a wide range of interesting topics. To mention a just few: Foley sound, immersive environments, building your own synthesizer…
Sebastian-Thies Hinrichsen attended the klingt gut! Symposium – Field Recording Workshop and published this article about it on June 16, fieldrecording.de/2015/06/16/klingt-gut-symposium-field-recording-workshop/ with plenty of photos and online audio for fieldrecording.de.
