I am leading a public, interactive event on Oct. 22, part of a weekly Tuesday evening series organized by the Education Department at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago. The activities planned will actively engage the public in four ways, to “play, watch, share, and listen.” Students at SAIC, in my Field Recording/Phonography class, and Lindsey French’s “Sensing the Landscape” class, will help along with members of the MSAE and Chicago Phonography.
The event will include soundwalks with making and listening as the main activities, somehow involving field recording, culminating with a phonography performance and discussion. It will engage awareness multiple levels, concerning the social, aesthetic, and environmental aspects of sound.
