5-minute Springboard Video Added to Youtube

This evening I uploaded a 5-minute video about the springboard to my youtube account. I made it two years ago with Gretchen Hasse. Please use this link to view: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=id0MDuHX1hY

This video was made to demonstrate what the springboard is and how I play it has a musical instrument. It helps show how everyday, readily available objects and materials can be used to make interesting and unusual sounds when amplified by a contact mic. The video supported my promotion in teaching rank at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and now supports my submission to the Second Annual Guthman Musical Instrument Competition.

Gretchen was my teaching assistant at SAIC many years ago, and later made the videos of me that were featured on Gearwire. Gretchen then re-edited a short bit for the DVD accompanying the second edition of Nicolas Collins’s book, Handmade Electronic Music: The Art of Hardware Hacking, released this spring, 2009.

Links to my text about the Springboard and the Gearwire videos are on the “instruments” page of this website.
