Julian and Nick have played together in several jazz and improv bands over the past few years. “Ghost Runner” features them in a duo setting for abstract compositional structures in the form of texts, numbers, concepts, and loose instructions. The compositions are intended to study specific tonalities, dynamics and rhythmic interplay while imposing a minimum constraint on both the performers’ spontaneity and the listeners’ interpretation.
