About the exhibition:

This edition of radioCona:0.2425 aims at reflecting and shifting precisely this ‘unperceived’ remainder, making a leap to move from the unit of time to the notion of space, toward perceiving space, toward perceiving, capturing, and composing sounds and soundscapes, and ultimately toward creating autonomous narratives.

The radioCona:0.2425 soundart exhibition was curated by Francisco Lopez, Elena Biserna, Brane Zorman, Irena Pivka, and Jasmina Založnik. Find details about my curatorial selections here.

Report from Balance-Unbalance 2016 in Manizales, Colombia

Jardín Botánica in Manizales, Colombia on Thursday, May 12, 2016

Greetings! Here is some news from Balance-Unbalance in Manizales. Following my “Eco-sensing” talk on Monday, I presented briefly in a large global Live Audio Streaming Panel with Grant Smith on Wednesday. Video of the panel stream is now archived here on YouTube.

We enjoyed discussing our experiences and ideas about real time location-based audio and environmental listening with a large host of brilliant artists and researchers. It was genuinely a global panel with participants from Australia, Estonia, Korea, Japan, England, and USA.

BunB2015data-scienceThursday and Friday at the Universidad de Caldas, adjacent to the Jardín Botánica, we’re having the “Sounding Colombia” workshop led by members of the World Forum for Acoustic Ecology: Scott Smallwood and Stephan Moore of the American Society for Acoustic Ecology, and Emmanuel Galvan of the Foro Mexicano de Ecología Acústica (Mexican Forum for Acoustic Ecology), with Grant Smith of the UK-based Soundcamp.

Visit the Balance-Unbalance 2016 website and view the Soundscape Concert program.

Balance-Unbalance helps convene people with a great body of knowledge and ideas. We can come together again for World Listening Day: Sounds Lost and Found on Monday, July 18, and through the week of July 16th-22nd, to explore one of most important ways we have to understand and design our world, through soundscape awareness and listening.

All the best,
Eric

Podcasting via AudioBoo, shared field recordings, podcasts, Locus Streambox

AudioBoo_logoRecently, I started using AudioBoo and found it to be a fun social media “play thing” for posting field recordings. One interesting feature with potential for serious use is AudBoo’s ability to create a podcast in the iTunes Music Store. There you can download to the files or “boos” as well as subscribe to the podcast. You can tag your boos, search boos. This is the link for my AudioBoo. As in Twitter you can follow the profiles. You can also subscribe to everyone’s AudioBoos on the iTunes AudioBoos full podcast.
